Description

GHRH (Growth Hormone–Releasing Hormone) is a 44–amino acid endogenous peptide produced in the hypothalamus that regulates growth hormone secretion through activation of the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary cells. Classified as a neuroendocrine signaling peptide, GHRH binds its G protein–coupled receptor and activates adenylate cyclase and cAMP pathways, resulting in measurable growth hormone release in experimental systems. GHRH peptide research focuses on hypothalamic–pituitary axis regulation, receptor-mediated signal transduction, and pulsatile endocrine dynamics.

In laboratory settings, GHRH is studied to understand how central neuropeptide signals coordinate peripheral hormonal output. Major research areas include neuroendocrine rhythm modeling, receptor pharmacology and desensitization studies, and metabolic signaling pathway analysis. These systems are important in experimental biology because pulsatile hormone regulation, second-messenger signaling, and feedback-loop control are foundational mechanisms in endocrine research models.
