Description
FGL-S is a 15–amino acid synthetic peptide derived from a neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) sequence and is studied as an NCAM-mimetic modulator of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) signaling. FGL-S peptide research commonly focuses on central nervous system models where NCAM–FGFR pathways are used to examine neurite outgrowth, synaptic structure, and cellular responses to stressors under controlled laboratory conditions.
In vitro experiments and animal studies have evaluated how FGL-S–related peptides influence measures such as neurite extension, dendritic spine morphology, synaptic markers, and glial activation profiles relative to controls. These endpoints are relevant to laboratory research because synaptic remodeling and neuron–glia signaling are foundational processes in learning-related circuitry models and in experiments that explore mechanisms of neural resilience. Reported research areas include synaptic plasticity assays, neuroinflammation-associated marker analysis, and pathway studies examining downstream signaling cascades (e.g., MAPK and PI3K/Akt) following FGFR engagement.
